The Seiterhof lies on the Tauern side of the Schladming Dachstein region. Here at the farm, you enjoy marvelous views of the Dachstein and Tauern peaks, along with the sunny and peaceful location amid the 20 ha of meadows and pastures which surround us. A mountain hut, the Giglachalm, also belongs to the Seiterhof.
Once a week, we take a 90 min hike together with our guests to the Giglachalm, an alpine grazing area that includes a mountain hut as well as the Giglachsee, a 17 ha tarn.
The grazing area itself spans some 700 ha. During the summertime, from the end of June until mid-September, some of our horses get to spend their summer holidays up there!
(road toll is not included)
Since the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries - as you can see, we look back on an over 100-year history of hiking here - people have been very excited about exploring this region. Famous mountaineers such as Archduke John (from the House of Habsburg), Heinrich Harrer (companion of the Dalai Lama) and Hans Wödl were all "trail-blazers" in the Schladming-Dachstein region.
As guests of the Seiterhof, the Schladming-Dachstein Sommercard is included, allowing you to use many mountain lifts, toll roads & hiking buses for free. Which saves you money!
