The Seiterhof lies on the Tauern side of the Schladming Dachstein region. Here at the farm, you enjoy marvelous views of the Dachstein and Tauern peaks, along with the sunny and peaceful location amid the 20 ha of meadows and pastures which surround us. A mountain hut, the Giglachalm, also belongs to the Seiterhof.
In midsummer, our guests can hike to our own mountain hut at the Giglachseen once a week, where we await them with an alpine snack.
From the Seiterhof you can either take the bus (free with the Sommercard) or your own car (toll fee!) to the Ursprungsalm and from there enjoy the hike for approx. 1 to 1 ½ hours together with our other guests or alone at your own pace.
From the end of June to mid-September, around 30 horses are on summer vacation on the 680-hectare Giglachalm.
(road toll is not included)
Since the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries - as you can see, we look back on an over 100-year history of hiking here - people have been very excited about exploring this region. Famous mountaineers such as Archduke John (from the House of Habsburg), Heinrich Harrer (companion of the Dalai Lama) and Hans Wödl were all "trail-blazers" in the Schladming-Dachstein region.
As guests of the Seiterhof, the Schladming-Dachstein Sommercard is included, allowing you to use many mountain lifts, toll roads & hiking buses for free. Which saves you money!
